Born to a Japanese mother in the South, I consider my art to be a juxtaposition of Southern charm and Asian culture. Through growing up surrounded by Japanese dolls, paintings, books and various knick-knacks that my Mother’s relatives would send to me, I developed a deep appreciation for the far-Eastern aesthetic. I love their colors, shapes and unique patterns that give me the inspiration to draw, paint and sculpt. Growing up in Gaston County, I also fell in love with the beauty of the deep south and its rolling rivers, dense forests and wide array of wildlife. Where these two aesthetics intersect is a constant source of inspiration for me in my artistic and personal life.
